It's a foggy and wet day here on the East Coast of Canada, yet the beauty is still astounding. My view overlooks a seemingly endless Atlantic Ocean that is as calm as if it were covered in glass. In the distance there are some weather worn rocky hills and, just outside my window floats a family of ducks that I suspect their goal can only be describe as "today we be chillin'". What beauty there is in such moments of tranquility.
I NEVER thought I would be here.
Life can be chaotic. The responsibilities of work, family, friends, aspirations and to-do lists can quickly take over. It is not uncommon for many of us to get so busy that one day we bump into an old friend and say something like "Good to see you, must have been a couple of years since we've chatted!" only to realize it has not been a couple years, it has been more like 10 years! Of course we quickly follow this realization with the next line we know all too well, "my goodness, where does the time go?"
As I sit here I realize my last 2+ years have been just that. Productive? For sure. Busy? Without a doubt. And running as fast as I can? You betcha!
Through a serious of life events I find the universe, in all it's order within the chaotic, has landed me here. Here in a place where time feels as if it may stand still from time to time, and I suspect that would be welcomed event. Somehow it (God, the universe, higher power, the divine or whatever title suits you) knew I needed to be here to learn what power may lie in peace.
Today I encourage you to step back, slow down and, as the opening line of Max Ehrmann's "Desiderata" writes, " Go placidly amid the noise and the haste and remember what peace there may be in silence.
