When You’re Tired of Being the Strong One
Share
There’s a unique kind of tired that comes from always having to be the strong one.
The one who thinks ahead.
The one who keeps it together.
The one who carries the worry quietly so others don’t have to.
Loving someone in addiction often puts you in that role.
You become the planner.
The watcher.
The emotional anchor.
And over time, that weight adds up.
Some days you feel capable.
Some days you feel completely worn down.
Both are part of this journey.
If you’re honest, there are moments when you wish someone would take this burden from you — even for a little while.
But most days, you keep going.
Not because it’s easy.
Not because you have all the answers.
Because you care.
That matters more than you realize.
If today feels heavy, please remember:
You don’t have to carry this perfectly.
You don’t have to be strong every moment.
You’re allowed to feel tired and still love deeply.
Showing up the way you do already takes courage and maybe just for today - that can be enough.
