When You Don’t Know What Comes Next

There are moments when the hardest part isn’t what’s happening right now.

It’s not knowing what comes next.

You live in between updates.
Between conversations.
Between hope and worry.

You try to plan, but everything feels uncertain.
You try to stay present, but your mind keeps jumping ahead.

Loving someone in addiction often puts you in that space — waiting, watching, wondering.

Some days you feel grounded.
Some days you feel like you’re walking on shifting ground.

Both are part of this.

If you’re honest, there are times when you wish you could see the whole picture.
Know how this turns out.
Know what to do today that will make tomorrow easier.

But this journey doesn’t offer that kind of clarity.

It asks you to take it one step at a time.

One conversation.
One boundary.
One small act of care — for them, and for yourself.

If today feels uncertain, please remember:

You don’t have to solve everything at once.
You don’t have to predict the future.

You just have to meet this moment

with the best you have right now - and that is enough.
