It’s Okay If Today Feels Different

Not every day on this journey will feel the same — and that’s normal.

Something many parents notice over time is how unpredictable their emotions can feel.

One day you feel hopeful.
Another day you feel discouraged.

One day you feel patient.
Another day you feel worn out.

Nothing outside may have changed, yet inside things feel completely different.

Supporting someone through addiction often brings these shifts.

Your heart stays connected, but your energy moves up and down depending on what the day brings.

And sometimes that can make you question yourself.

You might wonder why a situation that felt manageable yesterday suddenly feels heavy today.

But emotions don’t move in straight lines.

They move in waves.

Some days you have more space in your heart for patience and understanding.

Other days you simply feel the weight of everything you’ve been carrying.

Both belong here.

Neither one means you’re doing something wrong.

It only means you’re human — responding honestly to something that matters deeply to you.

If today feels different than yesterday, try to meet yourself with the same compassion you offer others.

You don’t have to feel the same every day to be consistent in your love.

Sometimes consistency simply means staying present through the changes.

And that’s something you’re already doing.
